2.00pm T’ai Chi Chih – Mindful movement and moving meditation

1 hour

Experience T’ai Chi Chih with a local expert.

Created by Justin Stone in 1974, it combines elements of T’ai Chi and Qigong using gentle graceful movements from a standing position which help to balance the flow of energy or ‘chi’ through the body. It combines 19 graceful and soft physical movements with relaxation and meditation, which help to balance the flow of energy or ‘chi’ through the body.

You will be guided with some movements which are easy to learn and very relaxing to practise whilst standing.

This gentle movement encourages focused attention on the body and the breath.

Regular practice may be beneficial to your health by lowering stress levels, improving flexibility, increasing stamina, promoting activity and improving both emotional and physical wellbeing.

This one hour taster event on the beach at low tide will teach a few simple movements. No special equipment or clothing is required. Participants move within their own capabilities.

The session will be run by Tracy Gibbons. More information about Tracy can be found on her website here and about T’ai Chi Chih and its health benefits here.

7.00pm Snorkelling Lesson (Anya Frampton, Mulberry Divers)

Selsey is lucky enough to have a large variety of marine residents just waiting to be discovered off our shore line. Regular inhabitants include six different species of crab, prawns, pipefish, wrasse, bream and gobies. They are easy to find when you know where look and are comfortable using snorkelling equipment.

This year as part of SWOF 2019,  Mulberry Divers are pleased to offer you the chance to learn how to snorkel. Sounds easy I know but the lesson will cover a lot of aspects so you can be truly comfortable exploring and having fun. The lesson will be held in a heated swimming pool so we can master the basics and then followed up by an Open Water Snorkel Tour in August (additional charge and date to be agreed).

The lesson is led by Anya Frampton a qualified Freediving and Snorkel Instructor. It will be held at the Oasis pool at Bunn Leisure, Selsey on Thursday 30th May between 18:45 and 20:15.

We will cover correct donning and adjustment, snorkel clearing, finning techniques, safety and rescue techniques and exit and entries. All whilst having fun! We are offering the lesson at the special price of £10 per person for SWOF.

Who can take part? The lesson is open to anyone aged over 10 years of age who is comfortable in the water. Please be aware that children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

What do I need? If you have your own mask, fins and snorkel great but if not, it can be provided. Therefore, you need a swimming costume, sense of fun and shower kit!

How do I book a place? We only have 10 spaces available for the session so book your place online. It is essential to book in advance as you will be required to complete a short medical questionnaire and a form with sizing information. Places will be confirmed once all paperwork is returned and checked.

£10 per person. Limited to 10 places. Must be booked in advance.

Tickets can be booked here.
