10.00am Natures Way Foods

2 hours

Selsey Walking and Outdoor Festival is pleased to announce this group visit to Natures Way Foods, Selsey which is an important business in the area.

Fresh thinking has been at the heart of Natures Way Foods from the beginning. It all started in 1994 when we started producing salad with just one wash line and two staff packing the leaves into bags.

Today we operate four manufacturing sites with over 1100 employees, produce over 240 million units a year and handle over 110,000 tonnes of finished product – from leafy salads to coleslaw, prepared fruit and protein-based salad meals.

As we’ve grown, so have our relationships with our suppliers, customers, the local community and the environment. We have put a variety of systems in place to help us keep our environmental impact as low as possible and support a number of initiatives in our community.

Visit our Selsey production facility and find out more about how we use our experience, insights and innovation to keep ahead of consumer trends and create new products.

2.00pm Selsey’s History through its Buildings.

4 miles, 4 hours

Have you ever noticed what a mixture of buildings there are in Selsey? People have lived here since palaeolithic then Saxon times. This walk will show you how Selsey has developed over the centuries, from 17th century cottages to the 2017 Lifeboat station. Starting at the arts-and-crafts inspired Bill House, we’ll go along the coastal path to discover how the shoreline has changed and then through Old Selsey, along the High Street to St Peter’s Church and down to the old coast guard station. You’ll find out how a small fishing village became a town of over 11,000 people.

£2.00 per person.

Tickets can be booked  here.

Meet at beach end of Grafton Rd, by Bill House. PO20 0JA.

We cheated with the above award winning photo of the eclipse which was not taken in Selsey. It is so good we thought it was appropriate to add it to this event and Dr Mason was busy tracking the 2017 eclipse as well. Thanks to our good friend Melanie for allowing us to use it.
